About Blue Book Report

Blue Book Report 3.0 is an amazing way academic debaters gear up for competition. Following in the footsteps of the NCFCA's leading sourcebook, the Blue Book, this database driven Web site gives focus to topical news of the day, leads community discussion boards, and provides a personalized area for members to house their evidence and briefs.

THE NEWS

There is an entire staff of home-school debaters from all over the US that wake up early in the morning to pull the latest information on the NCFCA debate topic to the front of your attention. The editing team serves this community by pulling daily news, blog postings, debate resources, YouTube videos, and anything else they can find surrounding the year's debate topic. Our fundamental purpose is to help debaters in their research and debate experience.

COMMUNITY

Registered members get a chance to share information concerning these topics in our student "LOUNGE," a bulletin board specially designed for student discussions. The Lounge is a great place for debaters across the nation to stay in touch with each other. They will likely meet one another at open tournaments, camps, and (hopefully) at Nationals. The Lounge is a community-building feature of Blue Book Report and is monitored by Blue Book Report editing staff.

EVIDENCE AND BRIEFS

The newest function of Blue Book Report is the ability for debaters to cut-and-paste evidence while they are reading up on the topic of the year. The EVIDENCE tab, accessible to registered users, allows debaters to store as many pieces of evidence as needed, including evidence from purchased sourcebooks like Monument Publishing's printed Blue Book. As evidence is gathered, members are able to create briefs under the BRIEFS tab and share them with their partners, their clubmates, and anyone else they wish. The evidence and briefs areas are anticipated to revolutionize the way students gather evidence, write briefs, and share their hard work.

Other interesting components to this site include...
  • Events. Home-schoolers have tournaments and camps throughout the year, and this page provides a centralized area for information that members will find informative.
  • The Resolution: That the United States Federal Government should significantly reform its environmental policy. This is what the debaters are debating, and the choices of article reflect this.
  • The Blue Book. There is a standard book that most team-policy debaters start with. Really, every participating debater should own a copy. The book comes with a digital code that allows members to preload over 800 evidence cards and 60 briefs.
  • Other Sourcebooks and Materials. Blue Book Advanced, Blue Book Lite, Blue Book Midseason, and even other sourcebooks will be available in our online store (to open September 1, 2009).
  • Monument Publishing is Blue Book Report's publication company and owner of this site. Visit www.monumentpublishing.com to see what the big dog is up to.

If you have ever visited Drudge Report, you'll see a strong resemblance to the "Blue Book Report" logo. Matt Drudge has debunked all standards of online technology that has been promoted by popular media. While most news sites have attempted to use technology to reduce labor, Drudge has refused the temptation for years. Instead, Matt Drudge is a live human being who gets up, surfs the web, and posts current events online for the world to see.

Following in Drudge's footsteps, Blue Book Report are real debate competitors getting up early in the morning to pull together the best the news has to say about the year's debate topic. The new editing team will be put together at Research Camp August 10-17 in Monument, Colorado. Approximately 30 students will participate in the camp by writing Blue Book Lite and be trained in as editors to the 2009-2010 Blue Book Report. The 2009-2010 Editing Team will be announced in August following Research Camp.
